Fashion’s Night Out 2011 fashion and shopping event

Fashion’s Night Out is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 8 kicking off at the Beverly Center and What’s Haute In The Streets will be there to capture all the action.

Fashion’s Night Out is a global initiative originally created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence and boost the industry’s economy during the recession. Fashion’s Night Out will return to New York City, Los Angeles and over 100 other cities nationwide to highlight fashion and support retail with exciting events that include designer appearances, celebrity guests, fashion shows and musical performances.



Downtown Riverside Celebrates FNO takes place Thursday, September 8th and is expected to draw thousands of fashionistas from all over the Inland region to celebrate the art of fashion.FNO Downtown Riverside is hosted by Riverside Downtown Partnership in partnership with The Art Institute of California-Inland Empire.Fashion's Night Out (FNO) 2011 is also marked by new sponsors joining the local effort and includes Presenting Sponsor BMW North America and Supporting Sponsors Maybelline New York, Obika Mozzarella Bar, Pisco Portón and WEN by Chaz Dean and Chaz Dean Salon Hollywood. Free self-parking will be available from 3-11 p.m.

Fashion journalism

Fashion journalism is an umbrella term used to describe all aspects of published fashion media. It includes fashion writers, fashion critics or fashion reporters. The most obvious examples of fashion journalism are the fashion features in magazines and newspapers, but the term also includes books about fashion, fashion related reports on television as well as online fashion magazines, websites and blogs.

Journalists comment about the latest fashions on the runway, as well as on the red carpet. Fashion critique and commentary can be found in magazines, on TV, and now more recently even on the Internet. With many fashion magazines in India, there is a demand for fashion journalists. However, there is a dearth of fashion reviewers and critics. By being a fashion journalist or a fashion writer one gets paid to write about fashion and Beauty, by having his/her bylines appearing in magazines and books. The following year saw the rise and fall of Boo.com as the company burned through $135 million in 18 months.Style.com, the online umbrella for Vogue and W, started in 2000. Style.com is not a journalistic website but a resource to show the complete collections of selected fashion shows each season.

Fashion journalists are either employed full time by a publication or are employed on a freelance basis. The career has grown in importance in other media with the release of films such as The Devil Wears Prada and Confessions of a Shopaholic, and television series such as Ugly Betty.

Fashion journalism may take another decade to become a mainstream career, but pursuing this subject will definitely make one a part of the changing trends in India.

The majority of American fashion houses are based in New York, although there are also a significant number in Los Angeles, where a substantial percentage of high fashion clothing manufactured in the US is actually made. There are also burgeoning industries in Miami, Chicago and especially San Francisco.

Italian fashion design

They attempt to satisfy consumer desire for aesthetically designed clothing; and, because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes. Some designers in fact have a reputation which enables them to set fashion trends.

Fashion design is generally considered to have started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first designer to have his label sewn into the garments that he created

Mass market : A couture garment is made to order for an individual customer, and is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric, sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.
Ready-to-wear : Ready-to-wear clothes are a cross between haute couture and mass market. They are not made for individual customers, but great care is taken in the choice and cut of the fabric.
Haute couture: Currently the fashion industry relies more on mass market sales. The mass market caters for a wide range of customers, producing ready-to-wear clothes in large quantities and standard sizes. Inexpensive materials, creatively used, produce affordable fashion. Mass market designers generally adapt the trends set by the famous names in fashion.

India has a rich and varied textile heritage, where each region of India has its own unique native costume and traditional attire. The '90s the last decade of the millenium, was one of the extremes. The excess of the early decade gave way to the drastic pairing down and stripping away in the hands of German designers like Helmut Lang and Jil Sander.

India is a very big exporter of fabrics and accessories. Sarees are woven in silk, cotton and artificial fibres. Kanjivaram, Mysore, Paithani, Pochampalli, Jamdani, Balucheri, Benarasi, Sambalpuri, Bandhini are some varieties of beautiful sarees from different regions of India.
